Project for translating Japanese Civil Code into English

Among all Japanese laws, the Civil Code is the most important as the basis of contracts and transactions conducted in Japan.
As there is no official English version of the Japanese Civil Code, Japanese and foreign businesses are so frequently facing difficulties in their international negotiations because of the lack of understanding of the Japanese legal background. As a result, many of the foreign businesses have been hesitating to enter into contracts with Japanese parties.
We, M&Z Business Translation Center, are trying to make an English Version of the Japanese Civil Code which is intended to be open to the public access for any business or legal use.
To continue this project we are seeking for financial support.
A part of the translation of the Civil Code of Japan is shown below.
Civil Code

Part1 General Provisions

Article 1
(1) Private rights shall be subject to the principle of public welfare.
(2) Rights and obligations shall be exercised or performed in a good faith and in compliance with the bona fide principle.
(3) Abuse of rights shall not be allowed.

Article 2
This law shall be construed on the basis of the individual dignity and the substantial equality of the both sexes.
